“…A number of large, carefully conducted studies (26-29) have failed to reproduce these conclusions including the Cancer and Steroid Hormone Study (CASH) (26) which carries particular authority by reason of its size and scope. Analysis of the CASH data on 689 cases and 1077 controls suggested no modification of risk even in women with more than 11 years of use beginning 15 years earlier (RR=0.8), in those with prior benign breast disease or with prolonged oral contraceptive use before first pregnancy.
