Acid-etched Fabry-Perot micro-cavities in optical fibres

Abstract: Significant progress has been made in recent years on the design and fabrication of optical fibre-based sensor systems for applications in structural health monitoring. Two sensor designs have tended to dominate namely, fibre Bragg gratings and extrinsic fibre Fabry-Perot sensors.
