ACO-VRPTWRV: A New Algorithm for the Vehicle Routing Problems with Time Windows and Re-used Vehicles based on Ant Colony Optimization

Abstract: A model with multiple objectives to minimize the number and the total delivery time of vehicles for Vehicle Routing Problems with Time Windows and Reused vehicles is proposed. ACO-VRPTWRV algorithm based on Ant Colony Optimization is presented. Heuristic function and state transition rule of ants are designed according to the rule to serve customers with earlier service beginning time, shorter service time and earlier ending time of time windows firstly based on Ant Colony System. Pheromone trail updating stra… Show more

“…Zhang et al [16] introduced a mathematical model for VRPTW and Reused vehicles. A new algorithm viz., ACO-VRPTWRV was presented by incorporating the good aspects of ACS, MMAS and ASRank (Rank-based Ant System) by optimizing the three objectives namely, vehicle travel time, customer time window and service time.…”

“…Swarm intelligence algorithms study the behavior of a collection of agents in self-organized societies, i.e. bees, ants, birds, and moths [13][14][15][16][17]. Techniques based on swarm intelligence have been widely used as a wrapper method for feature selection [18], for instance, bees algorithm [19], ant colony optimization (ACO) [20], butterfly optimization algorithm [21] and moth optimization algorithm [22].…”

“…In this paper, the first kind of AGSS is studied, formulated as VRP with tight time windows, short travel time, capacity constraint and reused vehicles (VRPTSR). Zhang et al [4] presented an ACO to solve Vehicle Routing Problem with Time Windows and Reused Vehicles VRPTWRV in logistical industry, which is different from the features in airport ground services.…”
