Active Hyaluronidase 2 Expression in the Granulation Tissue Formed in the Healing Process of Equine Superficial Digital Flexor Tendonitis

Abstract: ABSTRACT. Upregulation of hyaluronidase 2 (HYAL2), one of somatic hyaluronidase (HAase), was demonstrated in granulation tissue during the healing of equine superficial digital flexor tendon injuries. The activity of HAase was assessed by hyaluronan (HA)-containing gel zymography and in situ zymography using frozen sections obtained from normal and injured tendon tissues. Elevated HAase activity was identified in the extract from the tendinopathic tissues, with lower levels of the activity in normal tendons. I… Show more

“…125 Immune cells around biomaterials recruit MSCs, 126 which have differentiation potential in osteogenesis, adipogenesis, and myogenesis. 15,[127][128][129] Granulation tissue has a strong regeneration ability, 40,130,131 and is capable of differentiation into fibroblasts, 49,132 macrophages and white blood cells and formation of collagen fiber tissues. 50,133 This regenerative advantage is associated with abundant capillaries, thus facilitating the migration of stem cells and progenitor cells to surgical sites.…”

“…Hyaluronidase (HAase) is an enzymatic complex that depolymerizes and hydrolyzes hyaluronic acid, which reduces the viscosity of hyaluronic acid and improves both tissue diffusion and the resorption rate of excess fluids 89. HAase is involved in several physiological and pathological reactions and, therefore, has been utilized in various fields of medicine, such as fertilization,10 wound healing,11 ophthalmic surgery,12 and local anesthesia 13. During the 1950s and 1960s, HAase was used to prevent perineal trauma and to reduce the need for an episiotomy 141516171819202122.…”
