Adaptation and validation of the Indonesian version of the FRAIL scale and the SARC-F in older adults

Abstract: Objective. To adapt and validate the Indonesian version of the FRAIL scale (Ina-FRAIL) and the SARC-F (Ina-SARC-F).Methods. The Ina-FRAIL and the Ina-SARC-F were developed through forwards-backwards translation, and their validity (itemtotal item correlations), internal consistency (Cronbach's alpha), and test-retest reliability (kappa statistic) were determined. The diagnostic performance of the Ina-FRAIL and the Ina-SARC-F was evaluated using the receiver operating characteristic curve analysis.Results. A to… Show more

“…Sarcopenia was measured with the Ina-SARC-F questionnaire, an Indonesian adaptation of the SARC-F score, which is interpreted as sarcopenia if the score was > 4 [5,15]. Sarcopenia was also measured based on muscle mass according to AWGS (Asian Working Group for Sarcopenia) criteria, which is ASMI < 7 kg/m 2 in men or < 5.7 kg/m 2 in women [5,15].…”

“…Sarcopenia and frailty syndrome are initiated by decreased muscle mass and impairment of functional status, while cardiovascular events are preceded by atherosclerosis [7,14]. Screening of sarcopenia using Ina-SARC-F score and the Ina-FRAIL score for measured frailty syndrome are needed for early and rapid detection [5,7,15].…”

“…During face-to-face interviews with the patients, trained nursing staff used the Indonesian version of the FRAIL scale, which has been proven to be a reliable and valid screening tool for frailty syndrome assessment. 40 The FRAIL scale (FS) consists of five components: fatigue, resistance, ambulation, sickness, and weight loss. The FRAIL scale scores range from 0 to 5 (one point for each component; 0 represents best to 5 represents worst) and indicate robust (0), pre-frail (1 to 2), frail (3 to 5).…”

“…This questionnaire has gone through a process of translation, adapted, and validation. [18] Anthropometric measurements https://oamjms.eu/index.php/mjms/index Subjects in this study were weighed using minimum clothing according to standard procedures using measuring instruments that were calibrated and assisted by trained research assistants. [17] The subject's body weight was measured using an electronic scale (Tanita MC 980 MA) and recorded to approx.…”
