Adenosquamous carcinoma of the pancreas, a rare tumor entity: a case report

Abstract: IntroductionAdenosquamous carcinoma of the pancreas is a rare variant of exocrine pancreatic tumor. This type of tumor is extremely rare as only few similar cases have been described in the literature.Case presentationWe present a case of a 72 years old male patient who was admitted to the hospital complaining of epigastric pain and jaundice. “…As the effects of chemotherapy and radiation differ by the histological type of tumor, the proportion of the squamous cell component is possibly as a key prognostic factor. Case reports with long survival time and recent studies performed on a relatively large sample size commonly describe the need for CRT in the treatment of this tumor. In our patient, IORT followed by long‐term adjuvant chemotherapy may be associated with outstanding prognosis.…”
