Adoption issues for cloud computing

Abstract: Cloud computing allows users to use only a Web browser to receive computing services via the Internet. Users only need to pay for the services they actually use.It appears that a wide adoption of cloud computing in the foreseeable future is inevitable, and its adoption will bring about a sea change in the pricing and distribution practices for both software and hardware. There are, however, various issues that will impede adoption of cloud computing. Most of them can be solved. We discuss the status of cloud co… Show more

“…Several early studies published between 2008 and 2012 [e.g. 20,54,18,42,27,7,55,2] were (partially) conceptual and operational descriptions of cloud computing. In 2012, Yang and Tate [52] and Venters and Whitley [46] summarized and evaluated the achievements of and also gaps in the cloud computing research.…”

“…Kim et al (2009) have examined issues that could impede the rapid adoption of cloud computing from the perspective of potential users with more emphasis on medium to large users. Important as the issues raised may be however, the study requires strong justifications on how those issues were arrived at and the very many predictions that were made concerning cloud computing adoption.…”
