Adoption of online education channel during the COVID-19 pandemic and associated economic lockdown: an empirical study from push–pull-mooring framework

Abstract: The purpose of the research was to study how the onset of COVID-19 pandemic fuelled shift towards digitalization in the education ecosystem. The study consisted of responses from 316 engineering students collected during the COVID-19 pandemic physical lockdown in India from March to May 2020. The collected data was analysed using structural equation modelling to develop a model for online education in the study context based upon the push-pull-mooring framework. Hayes' model was used to analyze the effect of t… Show more

“…Thus, the empirical model establishes the relationship between the variables PushEff, PushEff, and MoorEff on SB directly, as well as through MIS and DSE as mediating variables, as well as the relationship between MIS and DSE on SB directly. This relationship is in line with the main principles of the PPM framework (Nayak et al, 2022;Wang & Lin, 2012). As the end of the discussion, that students are willing to switch to hybrid learning due to the circumstances and conditions of the learning environment affected by the Covid 19 pandemic.…”

“…Alternatively, an increase in SWC could be an impediment to the consumers’ desire to switch an OPA as well as switch between different OPAs. In the case of post-adoption switching intention of consumers regarding online services, there is a statistically insignificant association between pull factors and mooring factors (Hsieh et al , 2012; Nayak et al , 2021). However, with respect to the OPAs, a significant effect of pull as well as push factors was found in this study on the mooring effect of SWC.…”

“…The Push-Pull-Mooring (PPM) framework was initially developed to understand the phenomenon of human migration, specifically focusing on the factors that contribute to individuals moving from one place to another(P. J. Hsieh, 2021;Lee, 1966;Moon, 1995;Yoon & Lim, 2021) This framework combines two key components: the Push-Pull framework (Bogue, 1977;Nayak et al, 2022) and mooring factors (Dogra, 2023;Lee, 1966;Moon, 1995) Push factors refer to the negative circumstances or conditions that exist in a person's current location, motivating them to leave. On the other hand, pull factors are the positive aspects or attractions of a new destination that draw individuals towards it.…”
