AdS4 compactifications of AdS7 solutions in type II supergravity

Abstract: We find new classes of AdS 4 solutions with localized branes and orientifolds, both analytic and numerical. We start with an Ansatz for the pure spinors inspired by a recently found class of AdS 7 × M 3 solutions in massive IIA; we replace the AdS 7 by AdS 4 × Σ 3 , and we fibre M 3 over Σ 3 in a way inspired by a field theory SU(2) twist. We are able to reduce the problem to a system of five ODEs; a further Ansatz reduces them to three. Their solutions can be bijectively mapped to the AdS 7 solutions via a si… Show more

“…Hence, the charge of D4 branes is not globally defined, but depends on the interval [nπ, (n + 1)π] where we measure it. A very similar observation was made in the papers [55,56]. In those papers they have a set of D8 sources and D6 branes whose Page charge is not globally defined, while here we have NS-five branes playing the role of the D8's and D4 branes with characteristics similar to their D6's.…”

“…The class we selected in this paper was also partially inspired by the AdS4 solutions in [22]; in that paper, however, the doublet on S 2 is paired up with a doublet on a factor Σ3 of the internal M6. In that case the R-symmetry is absent in the AdS4 solution, because the solutions are N = 1.…”

“…While this phenomenon has been known for a long time, it has become clearer in recent times that the local metrics thus naturally chosen by supersymmetry often tend to have automatically the correct behaviors one would expect from O-planes and D-branes. For example, AdS 7 solutions naturally allow for localized O6-sources [21], and the same is true for their AdS 4 cousins obtained by twisted compactification [22]. Since, as we mentioned, O-planes are essential for Minkowski compactifications, it feels natural to apply to them as well this "identity structure" approach.…”

“…17 In [1] it was imposed that at the poles of S 3 the metric be either regular or have the asymptotics corresponding to D6-brane sources. Under the correspondence between NS5-D6(-O6)-D8(-O8) brane configurations and AdS 7 vacua we explained in the previous 15 Notice that, once we construct a general AdS7 vacuum of massive IIA, we can easily obtain AdS5 and AdS4 ones from it by applying the one-to-correspondences in [67,68]. It is also possible to construct a nonsupersymmetric AdS7 vacuum following the construction in [69].…”
