“…That band is very sensitive to acid attack and changed its form, which clearly shows the textural changes in the solids. These observations are in agreement with Lazarević et al's (2007) results. But it is observed that bands of calcite and dolomite at 2872, 2521, 1798, 1421 and 875 cm −1 are absent in the AS, because calcite and dolomite were almost removed by acid-treatment.…”

“…Batch experiments were performed using solutions of Pb(NO 3 ) 2 , Cd(NO 3 ) 2 and Sr(NO 3 ) 2 with a concentration of 0.01 mol/dm 3 , at a ratio sepiolite to electrolyte solution of 0.05 g:25 cm 3 . It was observed that retention of Pb 2+ and Cd 2+ occurred by adsorption and Mg 2+ ion exchange from sepiolite structure while electrostatic forces were main cause for retention of Sr 2+ ions onto the surface of sepiolites [15]. Jiang and coworkers studied kaolinite clay obtained from Longyan, China for Pb(II), Cd(II), Ni(II) and Cu(II) uptake from wastewater.…”

“…Thus, this heavy metal should be removed from the water and soil basin to the level of the effluent regulations of the EPA (EPA 833-B87-202, December 1987). Dissolved lead is well attracted onto alumosilicates and clays, better than other heavy metals [9][10][11]. The enhanced mobility of Pb 2+ -ion through the crystalline structure is due to its smaller hydrated ion radius compared to Al 3+ -, Fe 3+ -, Cr 3+ -, Ni 2+ -, Cu 2+ -, Zn 2+ -, Co 2+ -, Fe 2+ -, Cd 2+ -and Sr 2+ -ions [3].…”
