Adsorption of phenylacetylene on gold nanoparticle surfaces investigated by surface‐enhanced Raman scattering

Abstract: The adsorption of phenylacetylene (PA) on gold nanoparticle surfaces was investigated by means of surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS). The aggregation behaviors were examined by UV-visible absorption spectroscopy and transmission electron microscopy. The phenyl ring of PA appeared to assume a perpendicular orientation with respect to the gold surface from the presence of the n(CH) band at ∼3060 cm −1 . Neither a substantial red shift nor a significant band broadening of the ring breathing modes implied th… Show more

“…19 Only for the ordinary Raman (OR) spectrum of DNDT, near-infrared irradiation at 1064 nm from a Bruker RFS 100/S FT-Raman spectrometer was used to avoid strong fluorescence. All the SERS spectra in this work were taken in static conditions.…”

“…3c. The Raman signal intensity of the ν(C≡C) free band unbound to the surface appeared to be larger on colloidal nanoparticle surfaces than on roughened surfaces [29]. It would presumably result from different adsorption behaviors of 1,4-DEB, ascribed to different crystal structure and surface morphology between nanoparticles and roughened plates.…”

“…The concentration of the 1,4-DEB at ∼10 −3 M should be much higher than that required for its monolayer coverage [22]. Consulting the earlier vibrational assignments [29,30], the Raman spectrum was analyzed. The in-plane benzene ring modes appeared at ca.…”
