Advances in Natural Product Extraction Techniques, Electrospun Fiber Fabrication, and the Integration of Experimental Design: A Comprehensive Review

Abstract: The present review explores the growing interest in the techniques employed for extracting natural products. It emphasizes the limitations of conventional extraction methods and introduces superior non-conventional alternatives, particularly ultrasound-assisted extraction. Characterization and quantification of bioactive constituents through chromatography coupled with spectroscopy are recommended, while the importance of method development and validation for biomarker quantification is underscored. At present… Show more

“…Genistein production currently relies predominantly on plant extraction methods. , Plant extraction has traditionally been the mainstay for the production of natural products and is continually optimized for yield and sustainability. , However, challenges arise from the need for extensive agricultural land and unpredictable seasonal and environmental variations in raw material supply, coupled with fluctuations in plant genistein content . To address these issues, recent research has explored microbial fermentation as a promising alternative to genistein production.…”

“…The high temperature could affect the chemical integrity and properties of the loaded drug. Different techniques can be taken into consideration to offer sustainable and efficient methods for improving the stability of loaded API such as the ultrasound-assisted extraction (UAE) approach which is conducted normally in low temperatures ( Ponphaiboon et al, 2023 ). This method refers to ultrasonic waves or energy that exceeds the human hearing threshold of 20 kHz.…”
