Advantages of Manual Liquid-Based Cytology in Cervicovaginal Smears With Special Emphasis on Cell Block

Abstract

BACKGROUNDCervical cancer is the second most common cancer among women worldwide and the leading cause of cancer deaths amongst women. Early detection is possible by cervical screening. Liquid-based cytology and Cell blocks prepared from residue can be useful adjuncts to smears for establishing a more definitive cytopathological diagnosis.
