Agar films containing silver nanoparticles as new supports for electromembrane extraction

Abstract: A new support containing silver nanoparticles to assist electromembrane extraction (EME) procedures is proposed. For the first time, synthesized agar films containing silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) have been used as a support for liquid membranes in EME. Agarose films of 20 μm thickness containing 107.9 mg Ag/g agar were synthesized and characterized by transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and atomic force microscopy (AFM), showing isolated spherical silver nanoparticles of 20-30 nm diameter with homogeneous d… Show more

“…Since polypropylene hollow fiber and organic solvent are basically nonpolar compounds, they will negatively impact the extraction of polar species. So, presence of metal nanoparticles in SLM can increase the mass transfer of analyte due to high affinity of charged compounds to be adsorbed on the surface of metal nanoparticles . In this study, for the first time, we use the cooperative effect of RGO and silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) for selective and sensitive determination of AMP in milk samples.…”

“…In case of 109 AgNPs, mainly silver-109 adducts are formed, whereas for AuNPs, sodium, potassium, and proton adducts were found. It is known from literature that AgNPs form strong interactions with low-polarity compounds and can be used to concentrate various compounds such as low-polar drugs, polyaromatic hydrocarbons, or olefinic compounds [26][27][28][29]. For example, Hidalgo et al used discussed properties presenting effective nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs extraction method with AgNP-containing agar film 27.…”
