Airborne gamma-ray spectrometric data interpretation on Wadi Queih and Wadi Safaga area, Central Eastern Desert, Egypt

Abstract: Wadi Queih and Wadi Safaga lie in the central part of the Eastern Desert of Egypt. The airborne gamma-ray spectrometric data of the study area have been interpreted qualitatively and quantitatively and correlated with the surface lithologic units to define the anomalous uranium zones and to reveal if any association is present between the radiometric anomalies and the structural trends. The radiometric data have been treated statistically. The results revealed that the area has a wide range of radioactivity ran… Show more

“…The mean and standard deviation of the measured radiation parameters were established under normal distribution. Hence, all statistical analyses were performed using parametric statistical methods (Reda et al 2020). The results of the statistical parameters of the datasets categorized as minimum values, maximum values, averages (arithmetic mean), standard deviation and coefficient of variation are presented in Table 1.…”

“…The gamma-ray spectrometric measurements as a means for geological mapping have been reported in many locations of the world, to assess radionuclide concentrations in crustal formations (El-sadek 2009;Adabanija et al 2020;El Qassas et al 2020), in geothermal fields (Saqan et al 2001;Eggeling et al 2013), along geologically altered zones (Ramola et al 2014), in volcanic areas (Rosianna et al 2020;Cinelli et al 2020), and in active mining sites (Innocent et al 2013). Radionuclides also serve as e ective geochemical indicators (Wang et al 2016).…”
