Alien Plant Species in the Agricultural Habitats of Ukraine: Diversity and Risk Assessment

Abstract: This paper is the first critical review of the diversity of the Ukrainian adventive flora, which has spread in agricultural habitats in the 21st century. The author’s annotated checklist contains the data on 740 species, subspecies and hybrids from 362 genera and 79 families of non-native weeds. The floristic comparative method was used, and the information was generalised into some categories of five characteristic features: climamorphotype (life form), time and method of introduction, level of naturalisation… Show more

“…Special attention was paid to studying urban floras. We also noted the results of evaluating the invasive activity in regional floras, floras of agrolandscapes and floras of the nature reserve fund of different zones (Burda, 2003(Burda, , 2007(Burda, , 2018. Only non-native and spontaneously spreading species of Ukraine's flora have been considered.…”

“…has 15 species, which are primarily located in Asia and North America; ten species in the Old World, located across East Asia; one species in West India, Sri Lanka, Java in northern Thailand; and three in North America (Krüssmann, 1989;Lu et al, 2012). The spontaneous distribution of the nonrelevant species Parthenocissus quinquefolia (L.) Planch has been observed in many natural areas around the world (Coladoanto, 1991;Kelbel, 2012;Vegh et al, 2015;Zając et al, 2015, van Kleunen et al, 2018Burda, 2018). In countries across Europe and elsewhere, the species is given an invasive weed classification (Oviedo et al, 2012;Drake et al, 2009;Bean, 1976;Maslo, 2014;Axmacher & Sang, 2013).…”
