Alternatives of bioenergy feedstock production based on promising new perennial rhizomatous grasses and herbaceous semishrub crops in Hungary

Abstract: The world’s energy consumption continues to increase, which results in demographic changes, living standard increases and technical development. In the world and Hungary the interest in biomass crops also has increased considerably over the previous decades. This paper summarizes the most important biological, biotechnological and agronomical researches and results of our working group, in Department of Agricultural Botany, Plant Physiology and Plant Biotechnology, University of Debrecen. It represents our res… Show more

“…The digestate of the anaerobic process often contains very high concentrations of TN, TP, and other elements; this digestate could be a source of nutrients for microalgal cultivation [104,105]. In recent times, hydrothermal liquefaction (HTL) technology is being studied as a promising technology for converting various biomass into biocrude oil.…”

“…In most commercial facilities, the inoculum system consists of progressively larger steps. The inoculum is conceived in a small closed PBR, which is then transferred to considerably larger enclosed ponds and on to larger lined open ponds (Huntley et al, 2015;Lundquist, Woertz, Quinn, & Benemann, 2010). The inoculum system for a large-scale ORP is designed with the assumption that any given production pond would require reinoculation every 20 days (Davis et al, 2016).…”

“…Large-scale cultivation of algae requires the supply of supplemental CO 2 (e.g., from flue gas) as atmospheric CO 2 levels are typically insufficient (Heubeck, Craggs, & Shilton, 2007;Kong, Li, Martinez, Chen, & Ruan, 2010;Lundquist et al, 2010). However, flue gas needs to be conditioned before being infused into the cultivation ponds (Zhang, 2015) in terms of (i) temperature reduction; The required flow rate of centrifugal blowers is estimated to be 9,000 m 3 /h.…”

“…A kifejezés az utóbbi években merült fel több kezdeményezés hatására, amely a biotechnológiai módszerrel szaporítható, új generációs növényeket foglalja magában [12]. Az utóbbi években különböző, hatékony szaporítóanyag előállítási technológiák született a növényfajok esetén különböző kutatási programok keretein belül [34][35][36]. [37,38].…”
