Amylase-Producing Bence Jones Multiple Myeloma with Pancreatitis-Like Symptoms

Abstract: Amylase-producing tumors are mainly adenocarcinomas and, in rare instances, multiple myelomas. We describe here a first case of amylase-producing Bence Jones type myeloma with pancreatitis-like symptoms and the second in a Caucasian patient. The finding of salivary-type hyperamylasemia in a 72-year-old female with a possible pancreatitis made us suspect the diagnosis.
