An alternative formulation of light-cone string field theory on the plane wave

Abstract: We construct a manifestly SO(4) × SO(4) invariant, supersymmetric extension of the closed string cubic interaction vertex and dynamical supercharges in light-cone string field theory on the plane wave space-time. We find that the effective vertex for states built out of bosonic creation oscillators coincides with the one previously constructed in the SO(8) formalism and conjecture that in general the two formulations are physically equivalent. Further evidence for this claim is obtained from the discrete Z Z 2… Show more

“…We also observe that our vertex might be seen as an explicit realization of "holographic string field theory" of [48,49]. A different supersymmetric completion of the construction of [19,20] was provided in [38] by requiring the continuity of the flat space limit µ → 0. This vertex has been shown in [39] to be equivalent to that in [11,12,13,14].…”

“…The mapping between these two conventions is explicitly spelled out in [30]. Let us now focus on the study of the 2-point functions at the planar level, which already provides non-trivial checks of the dictionary presented here.…”

“…Recently two inequivalent supersymmetric completions have been put forward in [160] and [161], respectively. I will discuss this issue in more detail in section 4.3.…”

“…Finally, the implications of this assignment on matrix elements of the cubic vertex were successfully tested from the gauge theory side in [172]. In [161] the solution of the kinematical constraints in the SO(4) × SO(4) formulation was extended to include the required prefactors for the three-string interaction vertex and dynamical supercharges. In particular, contrary to previous expectations, evidence was presented that the two vertices constructed on |v and on |0 , respectively, are in fact one and the same, see [161] for details.…”
