The nystagmus analyser indicates on two output panels at any given time both the cumulative slow-phase displacement and the slow-phase velocity of the nystagmus. Saccades are eliminated from the nystagmus signal, and single slow-phase elements are adapted to each other. For computing the slow-phase velocity, a signal is differentiated, at which the saccades are substituted by elements of the previous slow-phase period. The performance of the nystagmus analyser is shown in different tests: optokinetic nystagmus and afternystagmus, tracking eye movements, rotational and caloric test.
