An Analysis of Stormwater Management Variants in Urban Catchments

Abstract: In order to identify the most effective variants for reducing flood risk in cities and to provide protection for water resources, an in-depth study was carried out. The research results allowed for the identification of sustainable drainage infrastructure solutions that should be used to increase the efficiency of traditional drainage systems. The most effective solution turned out to be the simultaneous use of low impact development facilities and stormwater flow control devices in drainage systems (Variant I… Show more

“…In a situation where an analysis concerns a strictly defined location of the system, it is reasonable to make an initial pre-selection of the decision options and limit their set to those whose implementation under given conditions will be technically and economically justified [27]. This selection may be carried out, for example, on the basis of the ground and water conditions prevailing in a given area [28], and the size of the area available for system development [29]. The size and the way of managing the drained catchment are also important [30].…”

“…When extreme rainfall this region will experience a flood inundation with a depth of up to 1 meter and a pool area of more than 100 Ha [4]. Where Kedurus River Basin is one of the centers of economic development in West Surabaya[ [5], [9]]. So we need a strategy to deal with flooding in the Kedurus River Basin. The city of Surabaya already has a detailed spatial plan namely the Regional Spatial Detail Plan or RDTRK.…”
