“…However, the main antibacterial protocols used in clinical and frontier scientific research, such as antibiotic therapy, photothermal therapy, and heavy metal ion therapy, have certain limitations. For example, overuse of antibiotics will lead to the emergence of “superbugs”; continuous exposure to high photothermal temperatures (above 55 °C) will cause tissue burns; , and the antibacterial concentration of most heavy metal ions is much higher than the biosafety concentration and is not easy to be metabolized by the human body. ,,, Therefore, it has become urgent to design a new antibacterial scheme, which can effectively kill bacteria while giving consideration to both biological safety and activity. Based on the abovementioned requirements, this study designed and prepared the Alg-PDA-Se composite hydrogel, which can effectively kill bacteria and quickly repair damaged wounds within 9 days in a mild thermal environment of 45 °C.…”

“…Antimicrobial assay displayed a more than one-log reduction in E. coli for the membrane. An inhibitory zone against S. aureus was also observed, but not as significant as towards E. coli [ 126 ]. Cyclodextrin was frequently adopted to form inclusion complexes with anti-microbial bioactive compounds such as curcumin [ 127 ], citral [ 128 ], thymol [ 129 ], and more to assist wound healing.…”

“…For instance, Yang et al proposed to replace silver by starch nanofiber mats with ε‐PLL to prevent the potential risks of metals in vivo. [ 44 ] ε‐PLL was attached to the starch nanofibers via a cross‐linking method, and the properties of this material were compared to a commercial silver‐containing dressing. The ε‐PLL‐containing nanofibers exhibited antibacterial properties against gram‐positive and gram‐negative bacteria over 14 days, which were accounted for by the release of ε‐PLL during starch degradation.…”
