“…The silver therapon Leiopotherapon plumbeus (Kner 1864) is an endemic and important freshwater food fish species once caught in considerable quantity mainly from Laguna de Bay and other freshwater lakes and wetlands in south Luzon, Philippines (Mane, ; Quilang, Basiao, Pagulayan, Roderos, & Barrios, ; Quilang, Basiao, Pagulayan, Roderos, & Cao, ; Yapchiongco & Enriquez, ). However, intense fishing, rapid development of aquaculture and expansion of human communities near these freshwater bodies since the 1970’s, and the continuing drainage of wetlands have diminished the wild fishery stock of this species (Palma, Diamante, & Pol, ; Santos, Fontanilla, & Quilang, ).
