SUPPLEMENTARY NOTES ABSTRACTThe goal of this study was to provide data concerning both the efficacy and the safe-to-fly dosage of a relatively unique compound, modafinil. Previous studies have indicated that modafinil holds promise as an effective wake-promoting agent for military personnel assigned to sustained operations without the common side effects associated with amphetamine-like substances. The present research was conducted to examine whether 200 or 400 mg doses of modafinil have any effect upon human vestibular functioning at night, to verify its cognitive enhancement capabilities during a short-term, sleep-loss setting, and to document the presence/absence of subjective symptoms. Non-pharmacological cognitive enhancement

“…For modafinil adverse reactions were primarily headache, dizziness, gastrointestinal complains (e.g. nausea, abdominal pain, dry mouth), increased diuresis, palpitations, nervousness, restlessness, and sleep disturbances and especially in studies with non-sleep deprived individuals, insomnia (Baranski and Pigeau, 1997;Caldwell et al, 1999Caldwell et al, , 2000Caldwell et al, , 2004Dinges et al, 2006;Eddy et al, 2005;Gill et al, 2006;Hart et al, 2006;Lagarde et al, 1995;Pigeau et al, 1995;Wesensten et al, 2002;Whitmore et al, 2006).
