An azo based colorimetric probe for the detection of cysteine and lysine amino acids and its real application in human blood plasma

Abstract: The present work describes the rational design and synthesis of a simple azo based colorimetric chemodosimeter to selectively detect Cys and Lys in the environment of competitive different class of amino acids in HEPES buffer under physiological conditions. The probes 3a and 3b containing aldehyde functionality upon interaction with Cys and Lys afforded stable thiazolidine and aldimine derivatives and displayed a sensitive ratiometric response in the absorption spectra due to a change in the intramolecular cha… Show more

“…45 The aromatic hydrazone group was photo sensitive as suggested by previous reports. 46,47 Device 1 showed no evident change under irradiation with incandescent lamp. However, under irradiation with the UV lamp (365 nm), the threshold voltage of device 1 was decreased signicantly from À4.3 V to À2.2 V (Fig.…”

“…Again for in situ complex, although the interactions with different biothiols are more or less equally probable due to less steric congestion around the mononuclear Cu(II) centre, unlike GSH, a large fraction of Cys are susceptible to reaction with the bare formyl group of the modified ligand containing probe 2 ([L 1 + Cu(II)] + ) to produce cyclic thiazolidine derivative [9,49,50] S10 C). Based on the predicted geometry for thiazolidine derivative of probe 2 by considering above molecular formula, theoretically calculated UV-vis spectrum with maximum absorption intensity ∼ 393 nm and corresponding vertical electronic transition from HOMO (120a) to LUMO (121a) are in accord with the experimental spectrum for 2 in presence of Cys (Fig.…”

“…Among these toxicants′ heavy metals, Cr 3+ and Hg 2+ ions have gotten significant attention due to their widespread pollution [7,8] . In the last decade or so, many organic chemosensors were prepared for the detection of various ions [9–12] . Herein, we will synthesis colorimetric chemosensors showing high selectivity and specificity toward toxic heavy ions present in water samples and agricultural crops namely tomatoes and courgettes.…”
