An Enhanced PEGASIS Algorithm with Mobile Sink Support for Wireless Sensor Networks

Abstract: Energy efficiency has been a hot research topic for many years and many routing algorithms have been proposed to improve energy efficiency and to prolong lifetime for wireless sensor networks (WSNs). Since nodes close to the sink usually need to consume more energy to forward data of its neighbours to sink, they will exhaust energy more quickly. These nodes are called hot spot nodes and we call this phenomenon hot spot problem. In this paper, an Enhanced Power Efficient Gathering in Sensor Information Systems … Show more

“…The authors proposed a supervised learning method to do the classification that is very interesting and can be applied to our method [43,44]. The authors in [45][46][47][48][49][50][51][52][53] gave a novel mobile sink-based method to optimize system performance, which can be referred to.…”

“…26 To solve this issue, different methods have been proposed in the literature such as assistance approaches, traffic compression, and aggregation. 27,28 The assistance approaches solve this issue by the deployment of nodes having higher power and transmission capabilities. These nodes are deployed in regions where power consumption is relatively higher, ie, in closed proximity of the gateway module.…”

“…Wireless network node positioning plays a very important role in wireless sensor networks (WSNs) [37][38][39][40], navigating, monitoring, and other applications [41,42]. According to whether the distance between nodes needs to be measured, the position can be divided into positioning based on the distance measurement and positioning not based on the distance measurement.…”
