An experimental study on mechanical and durable properties of self-curing concrete by using Ferro silica slag aggregate

Abstract: Construction industry concrete used heavily. The building industry relies heavily on coarse aggregate (C.A.). Due to the lack of C.A., artificial aggregate known as Ferro silica slag (F.S.S.) is the predominant alternative material. The Use of F.S.S. increases concrete strength and lowers construction costs. The strength of concrete is determined by how long it is allowed to cure. Because of improper curing, the hydration of cement problem can be solved by employing a self-curing mechanism. It’s possible to us… Show more

“…concrete are more similar to those of water-cured specimens, whereas internally cured specimens have a lower value. [1] With axial compression, SAPC's residual strength and compressive shear strength both rise linearly. Nonetheless, the integrated stress friction coefficient and compressive shear strength drop with increasing SAP content.…”

“…Internal curing is "the process of pre-wetting a lightweight aggregate using a reservoir that will easily remove water needed for hydration or restore water lost through evaporation or self-drying," according to the American Concrete Institute. 1) This investigation aims at exploring the influence of internal curing on the properties of high performance concrete. This is followed by a desire to transfer internal curing from research and lab to field experience.…”

“…According to Mindess et al, 2003 [28], the micro crack's width is not uniform. The micro crack width decreased on SCC usage of FSS aggregates with curing compounds Sundeep et al, 2022 [29]. For each sample at different ages, the microcrack width was measured in the concrete core three times.…”
