An integrated production inventory model of deteriorating items subject to random machine breakdown with a stochastic repair time

Abstract: In a continuous manufacturing environment where production and consumption occur simultaneously, one of the biggest challenges is the efficient management of production and inventory system. In order to manage the integrated production inventory system economically it is necessary to identify the optimal production time and the optimal production reorder point that either maximize the profit or minimize the cost. In addition, during production the process has to go through some natural phenomena like random br… Show more

“…According to general distributions of breakdown and repair time, the basic model was built and two computational algorithms were proposed to help solve the optimal fabrication and STL that keep the long-run system expenses at minimal um. Extra works (Berg et al, 1994;Giri & Dohi, 2005a;Dahane et al, 2012;Liu et al, 2017a;Muzamil et al, 2017;Vujosevic et al, 2017;Luong & Karim, 2017;Nobil et al, 2018;Mohammed et al, 2018;Zhang et al, 2018) were also carried out to study the effect of diverse aspects of failures and their corresponding actions on manufacturing systems.…”

“…Results and applicability were demonstrated via a numerical example. Extra studies that investigated the effect of machine failures on manufacturing systems can also be referred elsewhere (Giri & Dohi, 2005;Chakraborty et al, 2008;Rivera-Gómez et al, 2013;Chiu et al, 2016;Zhang et al, 2016;Luong & Karim, 2017).…”

“…Accordingly, they presented a solution procedure for the problem and used numerical illustrations along with sensitivity analyses to show applicability of their results and offered some important managerial insights of the problem. Extra studies [4][5][6][7][8][9][10][11][12] also addressed rework issues in diverse aspects of manufacturing systems.…”
