An Intelligent Low-Power Low-Cost Mobile Lab-On-Chip Yeast Cell Culture Platform

Abstract: Cells are the fundamental unit of life activities, and the basis of studying life phenomena. It is very important to observe the growth state of yeast cells for exploring the law of life movement, diagnosis and treatment of diseases, drug screening and so on. This study proposes a kind of intelligent low-cost portable cell culture platform using the microfluidic channel and the special machine learning circuit. The platform can independently complete the whole work of living cell culture and monitoring. For re… Show more

“…Indeed, Lab-on-Chip (LoC) systems, based on microfluidics, allow to strongly reduce reagent's waste, time-and energy-consumption, and analysis cost [10]- [15]. Therefore, these platforms find their application in food and quality control [16], drug delivery [17], cell cultures [18], DNA amplification [19], [20], environmental sensing [21], and so on. The analysis performed by these LoCs often requires an accurate tuning of the device temperature, as for example in DNA amplification [22].…”

“…Many ST platforms have been tested, even using smartphones [12]. There is evidence that the use and development of sensors trough low-cost devices help to improve access to new applications and push education [13], technology development [14], and research [15], especially in developing countries.…”
