An interacting multiple model filter‐based autofocus strategy for confocal time‐lapse microscopy

Abstract: SummaryGene expression and other cellular processes are stochastic, thus their study requires observing multiple events in multiple cells. Therefore, confocal microscopy cell imaging has recently gained much interest. In time-lapse imaging, adjustments are needed at short intervals to compensate for focus drift. There are several automated methods for this purpose. In general, before acquiring higher resolution images, softwarebased autofocus algorithms require a set of low-resolution images along the z-axis t… Show more

“…The percentage of apoptosis was quantified based on the cells stained with Annexin V-FITC positive and PI negative and both Annexin V-FITC and PI positive. The percentage of necrosis was calculated based on the cells with Annexin V-FITC negative and PI positive [15][16][17]. The fold change in apoptosis was calculated against the untreated cells.…”

“…Second, we only selected five different autofocus functions in this study. Some recently developed functions were not considered [5,[28][29][30]. Third, the selected optimal autofocus methods have not been actually performed for realistic imaging scanning.…”
