An Ontology Network for Educational Recommender Systems

Abstract: This chapter presents how an ontology network can be used to explicitly specify the relevant features of Semantic Educational Recommender Systems. This ontology network conceptualizes the different domains and features involved in these kind of systems in a set of interrelated ontologies. Basically, this chapter presents a detailed study of the semantic relationships that exist among the ontologies in the network considering learners and educators goals and taking also into account relevance feedback by users.… Show more

“…In (Bayoudhi et al, 2020), the authors have surveyed (among others) approaches for ontology versioning while focusing on three research topics: (i) ontology versions pertinence, like in (Sassi et al, 2016), (ii) ontology versions relationship, like in (Allocca et al, 2009b) and (Díaz et al, 2011), and (iii) ontology versions storage and querying, like in (Grandi, 2013), (Grandi, 2016), (Meimaris, 2018), (Bayoudhi et al, 2019), and (Taelman et al, 2019).…”

“…An ontology network differs from a set of interconnected individual ontologies in the relations among ontologies since in a ontology network the meta-relationships among the networked ontologies are explicitly expressed [9]. There are some models that cover both the syntactic and semantic aspects of dealing with ontology relationships in networked ontologies.…”

“…The use of networked ontologies in the context of e-Learning has been addressed by other authors. In [9] the authors address the problem of specifying the semantics relationships between networked ontologies by defining an specification of these semantic relationships for the conceptualization of a Educational Recommender Systems. In contrast to this work, the contribution of this paper is the conceptualization of the assessment in e-Learning.…”

“…This collaborative work provides technical support as well as the emotional support for all participating teachers. Recommender Systems (RSs) is defined as information filtering systems that offers personalized recommendations according to a user's context [3]. In our context, the recommendations can be in the form of pedagogical resources as well as peer teachers.…”
