An Optical Fiber ${\rm H}_{2}{\rm O}_{2}$-Sensing Probe Using a Titanium(IV) Oxyacetylacetonate Immobilized Nafion Coating on an Bent Optical Fiber Probe

Abstract: An optical fiber sensor technique has been developed for monitoring trace H 2 O 2 in aqueous solutions. A titanium(IV) oxyacetylacetonate doped Nafion coating on the surface of a bent optical fiber probe was used as a transducer. Trace H 2 O 2 in an aqueous solution diffused into the polymer coating reacts with the sensing agent. The resulted product absorbs light with peak absorption wavelength at 360 nm, which is detected by using optical fiber evanescent wave absorption spectrometry. This sensor reversibly … Show more

“…H 2 O 2 is also concerned to some central nervous system diseases . Till now, many methods for the detection of H 2 O 2 have been reported, including chemical titration , spectrophotometry , high performance liquid chromatography , chemiluminescence , fluorescence spectrometry and electrochemical method . Among these methods, electrochemical method has attracted much attention due to its simple, low cost, fast, high selectivity and sensitivity.…”

“…The optical parameters for H 2 O 2 sensing materials are summarized in Table 1. Extensive studies have been reported on absorbance-based [23][24][25][26][27] and fluorescence-based [28][29][30][31][32] H 2 O 2 sensing method. The currently available optical sensing methods utilized the changes in absorbance or luminescence intensity as detecting signal.…”

“…Bent fibers can be an interesting choice to increase the evanescent field and hence the interactions with the surrounding active media as it is described by several authors for the fabrication of humidity [80,81], pH [82], ammonia [83], H 2 O 2 [84] and Hg 2+ [85] sensors.…”
