“…Further, additional research is needed to explore the potential for parent education to have a broader reach within the community and over time, as parents may communicate sexuality information to other parents as well as youth for whom they serve as supportive adults, even if not their guardians. Such information sharing may be a part of community capacity building interventions, which are intended to be more sustainable than discrete educational sessions with just youth themselves (Colarossi, Betancourt, Perez, Weidl, & Morales, 2013). Moreover, ancillary parent education may serve to enhance the effectiveness of evidenced-based youth sex education programs.…”

Our study builds upon this work to suggest that quality of care (or lack thereof) and qualitative interactions within the health system are also important, understudied determinants of adolescent SRH in Sub-Saharan Africa.…”

“…Numerous authors have noted the need for training around issues of sexuality for adolescents with an ASD (Hatten & Tector, ; Klet & Turan, ; Koller, ; Sullivan & Caterino, ). Colarossi, Betancourt, Perez, Weidi, & Morales () described a capacity‐building program to enhance training focused on sexuality and health. Although Colarossi et al () discussed protocols for typically developing adolescents, the model and community partnerships could be considered for adolescents with an ASD.…”
