An ultraviolet-visible-near infrared overview spectroscopy for divertor plasma diagnosis on Wendelstein 7-X

Abstract: A new ultraviolet-visible-near infrared (UV-VIS-NIR) overview spectroscopy has been developed for routinely monitoring divertor recycling, intrinsic and extrinsic impurity fluxes on Wendelstein 7-X (W7-X). The overview spectroscopy is part of a large integrated system which allows several diagnostic systems to share the same field of view through an endoscope. During the first divertor operation phase on W7-X, a temporary view port was setup for the overview spectroscopy in order to investigate the divertor pl… Show more

“…For the remote PFCs erosion processes for boron would be one order of magnitude slower, but still taking place due to the erosion by charge exchange neutrals and residual ions. The overview spectrometer system [16] was used as the main tool to characterize the effects of boronizations on impurity sources at the main PFCs.…”

“…The overview spectrometer system [16] was used as the main tool to characterize the effects of boronizations on impurity sources at the main PFCs. In this case the overview spectrometer was connected to the endoscope at the AEJ51 port [17,18] of W7-X at the toroidal angle φ = 302.9 • .…”

“…Carbon and oxygen are believed to have been the dominant edge radiators during OP1.2a. Both show up on spectroscopic diagnostics [32], and the co-deposited layers found after PFC extraction consist of a homogeneous mixture of O and C in combination with a high H fraction. Moreover, the edge temperatures were in the range where both species radiate very effectively.…”
