“…31). Schmutz, 1913Although, Minaei (2013 referred to the report of T. coloratus from Iran by Manzari (2004) as a doubtful report and excluded the species from his list, but Mirab-balou (2013;2016;2018) included "T. coloratus" in the list of Thrips species in Iran. Recently, during a personal communication with Shahab Manzari (Iranian Research Institute of Plant Protection), he explained that his identification has been as "Thrips near colarutus" which was mistakenly printed as Thrips coloratus in informal publication, Newsletter of Entomological Society of Iran, and reassured that the record of T. coloratus in Iran is certainly not accepted.…”

“…In contrast, Mirab-balou (2013) listed 29 species including T. coloratus without referring to Minaei (2013), and without considering the report of T. albopilosus by Khanjani & Mirab-balou (2005). However, after a report by , this species was finally included in the last checklist prepared by Mirab-balou (2018). The record of T. juniperinis from Iran by Gholami et al (2014) is excluded here from the Iranian list because it is misidentification of T. golili sp.…”

“…Despite this richness and characteristic features, knowledge of thrips fauna of Turkey is still limited compared to neighboring countries located in the same zoogeographic region. For example, the thrips fauna of Bulgaria and Iran are known to consist of 155 and 270 species, respectively, despite these countries having lower floristic diversity than Turkey (Karadjova & Krumov, 2015;Mirab-Balou, 2018). Adana Province is located in the south part of Turkey, in the Mediterranean region.…”

“…The family Phlaeothripidae includes 59 species in 22 genera recorded from Iran (Mirab-balou, 2018). Among them, the genus Haplothrips with 30 species is the largest genus in the country (Mirab-balou, 2018), with 10 predatory species (Minaei and Mound, 2008) In this paper, we describe a new species of Haplothrips that was collected on the leaves of oak trees in Ilam Province, western Iran. An identification key is also provided for 21 species of Haplothrips from Iran (Minaei and Mound, 2008), and an updated key is provided for Iranian species of this genus.…”
