Analisis Habitat Koloni Lebah Hutan Apis Dorsata Dan Kualitas Madu Yang Dihasilkan Dari Kawasan Hutan Dengan Tujuan Khusus (Khdtk) Rantau, Kalimantan Selatan

Abstract: Forest Area with Special Purpose (KHDTK) Rantau is a research forest (HP) in South Kalimantan where there is a beehive tree (sialang) regularly inhabited by Apis dorsata forest bee colonies. The existence of sialang trees are sources of honey for forest honey collectors around the area. The research was conducted to determine (1) the potential of Rantau HP as sialang habitat and (2) the quality of honey produced through survey and observation approaches. Vegetation analysis was used to determine the vegetation… Show more

“…Moisture content of both samples are similar to some local Indonesian honey reported (Adalina, 2018;Evahelda, Pratama, Malahayati, & Santoso, 2017;Savitri, Hastuti, & Suedy, 2017) and Indian honey which ranged from 22.6-26.2% w/w (Kavapurayil et al, 2014). The values obtained in this study were higher than rubber honey and rambutan honey from Indonesia (Harjo, Radiati, & Rosyidi, 2015), Nigerian honey (Buba et al, 2013), Algerian honey (Khalil et al, 2012), Saudi Arabia honey (Mohammed et al, 2017), and Pakistan honey (Ahmed et al, 2016).…”

“…Furthermore, the honey bee-hunter stated that honey bees collect nectar from the acacia tree. This emphasizes the report that acacia tree (Acacia mangium) is considered to be a species with the highest important value index at Forest Area with Special Purpose (Kawasan Hutan dengan Tujuan Khusus, KHDTK) Rantai Kalimantan Selatan (Adalina, 2018).…”

“…High acidity content in klanceng honey causes the degree of acidity (pH) to be low. This result follows Adalina [11], which states that the degree of acidity can be determined by the pH value, where the higher acidity of klanceng honey causes the pH in honey to be lower. Chayati (2008) states that klanceng honey with a low pH can prevent the growth of various bacteria.…”

“…Around 25% of the total honey production in Indonesia is produced from A. mellifera bees [3]. Apis dorsata bees are classified as wild bees and cannot be cultivated, whose distribution covers most of Indonesia [4]. The results of collecting honey from A. dorsata bees are the largest contributor to total honey production in Indonesia [5], estimated at around 70 to 80% of total honey production in Indonesia [6].…”
