Analysis and design of inclined fractal defected ground-based circularly polarized antenna for CA-band applications

Abstract: Design of single-feed circularly polarized (CP) microstrip antenna is proposed in this article. The design employs the concept of E-shape patch with inclined fractal defected ground structure (IFDGS), which can improve the impedance bandwidth, gain, and axial ratio (AR) bandwidth. The excellent enhanced impedance bandwidth, axial ratio bandwidth, and gain are achieved by an inclined E-shaped fractal etched on the ground plane. The parameter studies of the E-shaped IFDGS are given to illustrate the way to obtai… Show more

“…In addition, this promising result comes as result of working with several states of PIN diodes, unlike what the previously published works opted for. Whereas, other published works antennas do not exceed 1.7 GHz inband and -35 dB in gain according to previous works [30]. Particularly results from article [32], the evolutionary procedure frequency response of the impedance bandwidth ranges from 5.65 GHz to 5.9 GHz, and reflection coefficient value is -34.08 dB, based on this result we can model and design a new antenna with new geometry such as C-shaped slot in order to get a large wide-band.…”

“…The results of working with several modes show that the presented antenna has a good isolation at the operating bands with multiple resonances and the antenna gain. [18], particularly when we compared the band of our antenna with that previous works [19], [20] and [21] that the band reaches to 1.7 GHz, 0.42 GHz and 0.25 GHz respectively. It is can be clearly noticed that the proposed design has a wide large band compared to all the previous works and the highest gain value.…”

“…The same element, stacked as a parasitic patch with 0.8 mm height substrate material, improved the gain considerably. A single feed E-shaped patch with inclined fractal defected ground structure (IFDGS) is proposed in this article [15]. Like the traditional patches that use notches to generate CP in [13], a similar idea has been implemented to produce CP with sector patches.…”

“…The work depicted in [16] is a slot antenna loaded with parasitic patches to obtain a maximum usable CP bandwidth. An inclined FDGS has been discussed in [17] and [15]; the fractal DGS is achieved in the ground plane inclined along the diagonal axis. The work in [18] gives a detailed understanding of the fractal structure used in the paper with a square patch.…”
