Analysis of ASE Noise in Optical Fiber Raman Amplifiers

Abstract: In this paper, ASE (amplified spontaneous emission) noise induced by parametric gain and spontaneous Raman scattering in optical fiber Raman amplifier is analyzed. Expressions regarding the generation and amplification of such kind of noise are present. Simulations are carried out on a forward WDM pumping fiber Raman amplifier and a long haul transmission system with multi-stage fiber Raman amplifiers.
