Analysis of Business Cycles in the Breeding of Pigs, Cattle and Poultry and their Relationship to the Causality of Wheat and Rye Cultivation in Poland

Abstract: The article presents a study on the phenomenon of pig gaps in the perspective of pig, cattle, and poultry farming in Poland. The work attempts to define the phenomenon itself as well as to show the reasons for its occurrence and significance for the Polish economy. The study used a cross-spectral analysis, which indicated cyclical relationships and shifts between the studied time series. The methodology of the work was based on a simplified spectral analysis, i.e. the use of the square of coherence, sp… Show more

“…( ; + ) = ( ; + )∀( , , )) of the twodimensional process [ ], t∈N. The spectrum function of such a process has the form (Łuczyński, 2015): The calculations also used a coefficient of multiple coherence allowing one to indicate the frequency components of two-time series that are correlated with each other (Mierzejewski, and Lampart, 2018). This takes values from 0 to 1.…”

“…The only exception is Pomorskie voivodeship where this value increased from the level of 107 kg/ha in 2006 to 349 kg/ha in 2016, therefore the national averages for these years were successively 137 kg/ha and 159 kg/ha, showing a progressing trend. The direction of reducing pork production in Poland results from mitigation of phenomena of pig cycles [21] through the import of meat from the other European Union countries. In case of the remaining farming, as well as cows' milk production, the increase was recorded, which also resulted (by relocation of production resources) in the reduction of pork production.…”
