Analysis Of Carbon Emission Level on Merauke Regency Land Cover

Abstract: This research is aimed to know level of carbon emission from land cover change in Merauke Regency. The data are historical baseline which is land cover map time series of 1990, 2000, 2005, 2010 and 2014, also zoning plan of Merauke Regency in 2010-2030. Furthermore, the data are processed with software LUMENS (land use planning for low emission development strategy). The result is presented descriptively. From the result, it can be concluded that based on analysis of carbon emission level in 1990 - 2000, it is… Show more

“…The carbon stock, carbon sequestration, and carbon emission values in the ATPF were determined through analysis using the open source LUMENS version 0.1 (Nguyen et al 2016;Untari et al 2018;Do et al 2020). Notably, the LUMENS software employed a stock difference approach, comparing the differences in carbon stock across the years under study (Eddy et al 2021b).…”

“…In addition, there is a risk of facing climate change scenarios that can affect fishermen's catches because of the growing wave season and often erratic weather changes that cause fishermen to be unable to go to sea to catch fish. The impact of climate change cannot be ignored anymore; Merauke is one of the areas that contribute carbon emissions, namely the mangrove forest area that is used for residential areas or damaged by tidal waves Untari et al, 2018a;Untari et al, 2018b). This study aimed to identify socio-economic conditions and the welfare of local and non-local fishermen in Payum Village, Merauke District.…”

“…The decline in environmental quality as a result of land-based development has already occurred. Based on an analysis of land cover due to economic development from the large-scale plantation sector and the cultivation sector, Merauke in 4 periods of carbon emissions always increases along with reduced forest land cover [8], [9] The development of land-based economic areas should pay attention to environmental aspects which can be carried out lightly so that both goals can be realized [10], [11] .…”
