Analysis of deethyl‐ and deisopropylatrazine residues in drinking and ground water by chemical derivatization

Abstract

SummaryA gas chromatographic method with alkali flame ionization detection is described for the determination of residue levels (0.1 pg/l and below) of deethylatrazine and deisopropylatrazine in drinking and ground water. Confirmation of the identities of Bond-Elut C18 extraction cartridges containing 5 g of adsorbent were obtained from Analytichem International (Harbor City, CA, USA), prior to use they were activated by washing with ethyl acetate (20 ml), methanol (20 ml), and water (20 ml) the compounds is achieved by trifluoroacetylation, reaction conditions for which are presented.
