Analysis of Problems, Consequences and Solutions for Bim Application in Reconstruction Projects

Abstract: The main aim of analysis presented in this paper is based on the complex evaluation of Building Information Modelling (BIM) application and decision support in reconstruction projects. The reconstruction projects face the high level uncertainty during implementation mostly due inappropriate information management, insufficient quality control and low competence of participants. The application of advanced Computer-Aided tools such as BIM uses both with advanced Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) … Show more

“…In this case, stochastic optimization methods (e.g. NSGA-II) is often chosen to solve the complex design problem (Migilinskas et al, 2017), such as rock-fill dam design (Nikoo et al, 2015) and sewerage rehabilitation design (Lin et al, 2016).…”

“…1-Insufficient knowledge on BIM enforcement systems in the senior executives. CR1 (Kaneta et al, 2017) 2-Lack of sufficient research projects on BIM CR2 (Zhao et al, 2017) 3-Lack of experts in the field of BIM CR3 (Krivonogov et al, 2018;Migilinskas et al, 2013;Pavlovskis et al, 2017;Migilinskas et al, 2017) 4-Lack of BIM training centers CR4 (Krivonogov et al, 2018) 5-Incompatibility of the existing software and hardware with BIM software system CR5 (Mirarchi et al, 2018) 6-Lack of proper training programs for the personnel to become familiar with BIM CR6 (Krivonogov et al, 2018;Garyaeva, 2018) Technical 7-Insufficient information on BIM among the private sector CR7 (Kaneta et al, 2017) 8 Timing 15-Lack of time to implement BIM CR15 (Kaneta et al, 2017) A professional questionnaire (see supplementary information) was elaborated based on these criteria and then employed to assist in collecting the opinion of a target expert group. The expert group was carefully selected by inviting experts in the field, with excellent academic and/or practical experience in the field of BIM.…”

“…The researchers in their literature analysis mostly highlights BIM benefits and opportunities in the construction industry but challenges, disatvantageis and limitations of BIM use aolso need to be anlysed (Azhar, 2011;Eastman et al, 2011;Migilinskas, Pavlovskis, Urba, & Zigmund, 2017).…”

“…Disadvantages and Limitations of BIM use (S. Liu, Xie, Tivendal, & C. Liu, 2015;Migilinskas et al, 2017):  Project participants are working with specific tools and often data ex-change is limited due to software incompatibility;  Lack of clarity on data management, intellectual property and responsibility of participants with project content;  The first use of BIM technologies is often the result of errors, due to lack of experience and leads to timeconsuming bug fixes;  Lack of standards or the development of a national strategy for BIM implementation;  Lack of competence of project participants using BIM technologies;  Fear of failure and high initial investment costs;  Time for training how to use the software;  Too consoervative approach to new management technologies.…”
