Analysis of Squeeze Films Between Rough Circular Plates Lubricated with Rabinowitsch Fluids

Abstract: The present theoretical work investigates the combined impacts of non-Newtonian (pseudoplastic and dilatant) lubricants and surface roughness on the performance of squeeze films lubrication between two rough circular plates. The modified Reynolds equation has been derived on the basis of Christensen's stochastic theory of hydrodynamic lubrication for rough surfaces. The lubricant model adopted for the analysis is Rabinowitsch fluid model -an experimentally verified fluid model for lubricated bearing systems. T… Show more

“…In the context of a non-Newtonian greasing objects, Bourgin et al [24] used a Finite-Element approach to compute the load capacity of a limited breadth journal bearing, Hsu et al [25], devised an analytical approach and investigated the load-carrying power as well as the friction force in a slider bearing. Similarly, the relevant analysis on the conceptual and technical assessment of externally pressed bearing [26], circular plates bearings [27], squeezing film between two parallel disks [28], infinitely broad parallel rectangular plates [29], pivoting curved slider bearings [30], externally pressured circular hydrostatic thrust bearings [31] and the squeezing characteristics of film between a long cylinder and a flat plate [32], is evaluated by considering the non-Newtonian Rabinowitsch model.…”
