Analysis of temperature field for a surface-mounted and interior permanent magnet synchronous motor adopting magnetic-thermal coupling method

Abstract: Aiming at obtaining high power density of surface-mounted and interior permanent magnet synchronous motor (SIPMSM), it is important to accurately calculate the temperature field distribution of SIPMSM, and a magnetic-thermal coupling method is proposed. The magnetic-thermal coupling mechanism is analyzed. The thermal network model and finite element model are built by this method, respectively. The effects of power frequency on iron losses and temperature fields are analyzed by the magnetic-thermal coupling fi… Show more

“…First, the fault sample database of the single pole demagnetization fault sample database is established. Second, any coil is designated as the detecting coil of the motor to be diagnosed, and the single-coil no-load back EMF residual (e residual ) is obtained by the Equation (5). Then, demagnetization fault detection is realized by the amplitudes of e residual , and the number of demagnetization fault magnetic poles is determined by comparing the e residual energy.…”

“…Finally, the degree of demagnetization is evaluated according to the amplitudes of e residual . e residual = e health − e c (5) where e health is the single-coil no-load back EMF under the healthy state, e c is the single-coil no-load back EMF obtained in real time.…”

“…The maximum torque is determined by several variables: the iron core thickness, PM thickness, inner and outer radii of the magnets, and number of PM poles [6,7]. Parametric analysis was performed to obtain the design points where the PMC can have the maximum torque value at the fixed limit of the PM outer radius and core thickness.…”
