Analysis of the environmental, economic, thermal and energy performances of green building technologies

Abstract: Nowadays, the construction sector must comply with increasingly high-performances and sustainability instances. To meet multiple requirements, it is important to apply a multi-criteria design approach, which allows the designer to analyze, evaluate, choose, and summarize the parameters to pay attention to in pursuit of building quality. A conscious use of green materials and technologies avoid the risk of greenwashing, which is common both in production and construction. This contribution investigates the perf… Show more

“…The practice of green roofs [64][65][66][67][68][69][70][71][72][73][74][75] has recently reached high levels of performance thanks to the development of highly advanced design techniques in the field of design due to unquestionable functional; environmental; energy; aesthetic and, on an urban scale, even landscape advantages; according to the purposes of this paper, the green roof practice itself could help carry out a real reform of the urban identity of a historic district with a strong unexpressed human and social potential [76].…”

“…If, as mentioned, raw earth can be used as a sustainable and circular construction material for contemporary buildings [28][29][30][31][32], it is beneficial to quantify environmental impacts in order to compare its performance with other materials and building systems. This is why numerous life cycle assessments (LCAs) of raw earth construction techniques or products have been carried out in recent years.…”
