Analysis of the Seasonal Variations of the Concentration of air Functional Spores in the External Space of the School of Microbiology of the University of Costa Rica

Abstract: Fungi are eucaryotic microoorganisms that reproduce by asexual or sexual spores. Fungal spores are involved in what is known as aerobiological process, which is influenced by several factors such as temperature, humidity, wind speed and precipitation. The aerial fungal concentration tends to be high in tropical countries. At the clinical setting, fungal spores play an important role in respiratory allergies due to a constant presence in the environment. These allergens are generally associated with several cli… Show more

“…Cladosporium fungi is one of the largest, most heterogeneous genera of hyphomycetes, comprising more than 772 species, and including endophytic, fungicolous, human pathogenic, phytopathogenic, and saprobic species (Brizuela‐Hernandez et al, 2019). The aim of this study was to determine the potential of the Cladosporium species to biodegrade petroleum hydrocarbon and also to assess the effect of surfactant Tween 80 as an adjunct on the biodegradation process.…”
