Analysis of the Volatile Components in the Leaves of Cinnamomum camphora by Static Headspace Gas Chromatography Mass Spectrometry Combined with Accurate Weight Measurement

Abstract: The volatile components in the leaves of C. camphora were analyzed by static headspace-gas chromatography/mass spectrometry (HS-GC-MS) combined with accurate weight measurement. Accurate weight measurement obtained by Time-of-Flight mass spectrometry (TOF-MS) helped to confirm the identification of volatiles in the analysis. 59 volatile components in the leaves of C. camphora were identified, which mainly included cis-3-hexen-1-ol (5.6%), 3-hexen-1-ol, acetate (Z) (11.1%), β-caryophyllene (15.4%), bicyclogerma… Show more

“…GOBPs are postulated to be involved in perception of plant volatiles. OachGOBP2 binding with 19 chemicals (mostly are volatiles of camphor tree) (Liu et al., ; Zhu and Guo, ) were tested. Eight of the 19 plant volatiles were capable of displacing 1‐NPN from the OachGOBP2/1‐NPN complex with IC 50 < 32 μM and K i ranged from 1.08 to 20.04 μM, whereas the other 11 plant volatiles were not good ligands of OachGOBP2.…”

“…5 tandem mass spectrometry (MS/MS) technology is an important tool to confirm the elemental composition of compounds and distinguish isomers and isobars. [6][7][8][9] the elemental composition of compounds could be confirmed by high-resolution mass spectrometry, 1,10,11 while they could also be confirmed by exploiting the tandem mass spectra of isotopic peaks from the precursor ion. 11 the product ion scan supplied the fragmentation information of the precursor ion, 6,[12][13][14] which can be used for the discrimination of parent ions with the same molecular weight and reducing the false matching rate.…”

“…[15,16] Gas chromatography coupled to mass spectrometry (GC-MS) is a well established and powerful technique for the analysis of volatile compounds. [1,[17][18][19][20] Triple quadrupole mass spectrometry (QqQ MS), a tandem MS, can distinguish isomers with the similar retention index, which could not be solved by mass spectrometry. [21] Time of flight mass spectrometry (TOF MS), a highresolution MS, can provide accurate mass which improves the analyte identification.…”
