Abstract:An analytical study of heat transfer and efficiency of arcs in arc steel furnaces of small and large capacity, 1.5-20 tons and 100-120 tons, respectively. We found out that the reason for the increased specific consumption of electricity for melting the batch in small capacity furnaces is the low efficiency of arcs equal to 0.55-0.57 and the corresponding specific energy consumption for melting 475-500 kWh/t.
