Analyzing the cyber-physical system–based autonomous collaborations among smart manufacturing resources in a smart shop floor

Abstract: Industry 4.0 focuses on the realization of smart manufacturing from shop floors to factories and to the whole supply chain. As a key technology of smart manufacturing, cyber-physical system has been widely discussed in the aspects of system design, data collection and processing, and cyber-physical synchronization. In a smart shop floor, manufacturing resources with intelligence and autonomy are abstracted as cyber-physical system units. They can communicate with each other autonomously to make optimal product… Show more

“…The second possibility reduces supervisor’s workload by taking advantage of the autonomy of mobile manipulators. 25,44 In Pach, 45 this decentralized approach is experimented. The high-level entity defines the production plan through an Integer Linear Programming (ILP), and the bottom-level entities are in charge of assigning tasks to to resources based on Potential Fields approach.…”

“…This phenomenon provides optimism for MSMEs, where the economy has the opportunity to grow positively through increasing the competitiveness of MSMEs, one of which is by accelerating the on-line system with digital adaptation. Industry 4.0 comes with cyberphysical and manufacturing collaboration [1], [2], then introduces flexible mass production technology and machines will operate independently or in coordination with humans [2], [3] , then [4] added that industry 4.0 is used in 3 interrelated factors, namely: 1) digitization in economic and technological interactions, 2) digitization of products and services, 3) new market capital.…”

“…According to Mintzberg (in [15] the concept of strategy includes at least five interrelated meanings, where the strategy is a: a) Planning to further clarify the direction that the organization takes rationally to realize its long-term goals, b) Reference with regard to the consistency or inconsistency assessment of behavior and actions taken by the organization, c) The angle of positioning that the organization chooses when bringing up its activities, d) A perspective regarding the integrated vision between the organization and its environment, which becomes the boundary for its activities, e ) Details of the organization's tactical steps containing information to trick competitors or opponents. [2], [16], [17] fully explain the process of the birth of strategic management through 4 (four) phases, namely:…”

“…In recent years, many studies have investigated the resilience or reliability of SoSs, because of its significance and wide application. Early investigations of the resilience concept and theory were performed by Hollnagel et al 9 in the engineering domain, and resilience is defined as the “ability of a system or organization to react to and recover from disturbances at an early stage with minimal effect on its dynamic stability.” Researchers have mainly considered the following methods in the resilience analysis of SoSs: Markov chains, discrete event simulation, Petri net models, system dynamics, 10 complex networks 11,12 and so on.…”
