Angular and velocity distributions of theHD+andD2+

Abstract: The angular and velocity distributions of the HD+ and D2+ fragments resulting from collisioninduced dissociation of the HD2+ molecular ion incident on He have been measured in the energy range 1 -5 keV. These distributions~ere used to determine the binding energy of HD2, some of the main transitions involved in the dissociation process, and the total cross sections for the production of both fragments.PACS number(s): 35.20.Vf, 35.20.Gs, 34.50.Lf

“…Such structures in the angular distribution for the neutral fragments formation may be caused by interference between two different transitions involved in the dissociation mechanism. Similar structures were observed in previous measurements in this laboratory [12,13] distributions were measured on both sides of the forward direction to ensure symmetrical behaviour. The absolute DCSs in figure 5 for the three molecular ions exhibit the same monotonic decreasing behaviour with increasing angle.…”

“…The purpose of this paper is to present measurements of absolute differential and total cross sections resulting from the collisional destruction of the above-mentioned triatomic molecular ions upon collisions with He. This work has been focused on the measurements of cross sections for total neutral fragments production in the energy range of 0.42-1.66 keV amu −1 in order to complement our previous measurements for specific dissociative channels, resulting mainly in ionic species [12,13] as well as to add to our understanding of the collisional dissociative processes. Also we report absolute angular distributions and total cross sections at the same E/M .…”
